Faculty Position/Clinical Coordinator

The Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University invites applications for a full-time, 12 month, non-tenure track faculty position.  The Department, located on the MCV Campus of VCU, is one of nine departments in the College of Health Professions. VCU is a large urban, research-extensive institution with a richly diverse university community and commitment to multicultural opportunities. The Department offers both B.S. and M.S. degree programs in Clinical Laboratory Sciences and provides the CLS specialty track in the Ph.D. program in Health Related Sciences.

As clinical coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the clinical practica for undergraduate and graduate students, coordinate the B.S. Degree Completion Program for MLTs, assist with undergraduate student laboratory activities, teach Principles of Education/Management for undergraduate and graduate students, assist with student recruiting, and develop and implement assessment strategies for student and program outcomes.

Applicants must have a Master’s degree, current national certification as a generalist in the clinical laboratory, clinical or college teaching experience, academic or laboratory administrative experience, excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills, excellent organization and multitasking skills, and experience with online education. Occasional overnight travel is required. A record of scholarly activities and leadership in professional societies is desirable. The candidate must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. 

Salary and rank will be commensurate with education and experience.
