Faculty Bio:

I am a native of southwest Virginia and received my B.S. and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.Following graduation, my postdoctoral research focused on the human pathogens Clostridium difficile and Helicobacter pylori. I decided to change careers and enter the clinical laboratory when I moved home to southwest Virginia, and worked as a generalist in a small community hospital prior to joining the faculty at VCU to teach at the SWVA Higher Education Center location in Abingdon, VA.

Research Interests:  

Focused primarily on bacterial gene regulation and control of virulence factors/pathogenesis.
