I am a native of southwest Virginia and received my B.S. and Ph.D. from Virginia Tech.Following graduation, my postdoctoral research focused on the human pathogens Clostridium difficile and Helicobacter pylori. I decided to change careers and enter the clinical laboratory when I moved home to southwest Virginia, and worked as a generalist in a small community hospital prior to joining the faculty at VCU to teach at the SWVA Higher Education Center location in Abingdon, VA.
Focused primarily on bacterial gene regulation and control of virulence factors/pathogenesis.
